Abstract:
With the KAFKA (german: Karbon Folien Kollisions Analysator) experiment we study charge exchange loss and angular scattering of the solar wind ions in thin (1 - 10 µg/cm2) carbon foils. Such foils are extensively used in Time-of-Flight (TOF) mass spectrometry. So far we have investigated the properties of H, He, B, C, N, O, F, Ne, Na, Al, Si, S, Cl, Ar, K, Ti, Fe, and Ni in the 0.5 -5 keV/u energy range.
